COVID 19 Updates

As of June 1, 2020, in-person counselling services will be offered on an as-needed basis. Otherwise, the counsellor will continue to provide online video-call services for clients.

Awareness of Risk Factors

  • Counsellor must ask prior to all in-person sessions if the client is experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, or have been in a Covid-19 high-risk situation.

 

Low-Risk In-Person Meetings Only

  • Counsellor must not meet with clients if either the counsellor or the client has had exposure to someone with a known case of Covid-19 within 14 days.

  • Counsellor must not meet with clients if either the counsellor or the client is experiencing symptoms that could be associated with Covid-19. These include any signs of a cold or flu such as coughing, sneezing, difficulty breathing, sore throat, or a fever.

  • Counsellor must not meet with clients if either the counsellor or the client has been outside Canada within the past 14 days.

 

Maintain Social Distance

  • Throughout all moments of session interaction between counsellor and clients, both parties must maintain a social distance of 2 meters.

  • When walking with clients between the waiting area and the office, both parties must maintain a social distance of 2 meters.

  • When meeting with clients in an office, the chairs must be at least 2 meters apart.

Minimal Contact with Surfaces

  • Counsellor and clients must refrain from touching office items such as books or Kleenex boxes.

 

Cleaning and Sanitizing

  • Counsellor are required to disinfect railings, door handles, furniture, pens, clipboards, and any other items touched by themselves or their clients prior to each session.

  • The bathroom will not be accessible to clients unless it is an emergency. When the bathroom is used for any purpose, it is the counsellor who will wipe down on surfaces and make sure that it has been cleaned properly.

  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizers must be available to the counsellor and client in each counselling office.

  • Tissues and disinfectant wipes must be disposed into a lined wastebasket, and emptied daily.

 

Payment

  • Where possible, clients must pay using online payment method of e-transfers.

 

Short Notice Cancellations Due to Development of Covid-19 Symptoms

  • If a client needs to cancel an appointment due to last-minute development of Covid-19 symptoms, our usual late cancellation policy will be waived.
